Have your growth meetings gone stale? 🍞

11 questions to freshen them up

Hi there đź‘‹,

Do you feel like your growth meetings are starting to get a bit stale?

It’s the same thing each time, like a status update on repeat.

These growth meetings can be so beneficial to your team, but only if you make them.

The mere act of having a recurring growth meeting is not enough, you need to really get the most out of them.

And to help with that, here are 11 powerful questions to ask in your next growth meeting.

These will help to stimulate more meaningful discussions and generate valuable insights.

Learnings

  1. What were some failures or setbacks encountered during the sprint?

  2. What specific learnings can we take forward to the next sprint to improve our outcomes?

Resource blockers

  1. Are there any potential blockers or challenges related to resources, such as development, design or copy?

  2. Are there any risks or potential bottlenecks that could arise if we are successful with our growth initiatives?

Most impactful experiment/optimisation

  1. Among all the experiments and optimisations conducted during the sprint, which one(s) do we believe had the most significant impact

  2. What insights or results from these experiments can guide our decision-making and future strategies?

Workload

  1. Considering the allocated hours or resources for the sprint, do we believe the workload was realistic and manageable?

  2. Are there any adjustments or redistributions of tasks needed to ensure an achievable and efficient sprint?

Retrospective

  1. How confident are we in the experiments and optimisations we pursued during the sprint?

  2. Do we believe they will contribute to reaching the sprint goal?

  3. What can we learn from the outcomes and experiences of this sprint to improve our approach in future sprints?

Recommendation

In every edition of Growth Waves, I also share a related book, individual or newsletter to check out related to the week's topic.

Most of what I learnt about growth meetings was from trial and error, sitting in on other growth leads meetings and discussing it with other growth leaders.

I’ve struggled to find content out there that explains how to have an effective growth meeting.

It’s why I dedicated an entire section of my Growth Experiment Tracking course to levelling up your growth meetings. We discuss who should be there, how to host the best brainstorms, and how to structure these meetings.

So I can’t help but recommend the course. Aside from growth meetings, it also covers idea prioritisation, analysing experiment results and creating growth processes.

By incorporating these powerful questions into your growth meetings, you can finally level up.

The next level - or expert level, as I like to think of it - has your team reflecting deeper, analysing outcomes, and proactively planning ahead.

These questions allow you to move beyond a mere status update to drive more impactful discussions.

Now it’s time for me to level up my afternoon with an iced coffee, it is hot in London this week!
